Game-day potato wedges

I can't sleep, so I thought some late-night blogging might help :)

These are probably the most delicious thing I have ever made. Sure, they aren't that difficult, but it surprisingly took me quite a while to figure out how to cut the potatoes, how long to leave them in the oven, etc.  Cheese and bacon are EXCELLENT things to add too. I'm also a big fan of preparing hand-made foods rather than buying processed foods! These are a great frozen-french fry alternative.

Time: about 45 minutes--15 minutes for preparing, and 30 minutes for baking

Things you'll need:
  • 5 or so medium sized potatoes (each potato yields 8 potato wedges)
  • a large baking sheet
  • aluminum foil to cover the baking sheet (optional). Make sure to put the dull side "up"
  • LOTS of pam to spray the foil with (the wedges will stick like no other without this)
  • a bowl to mix the wedges in with the vegetable oil 
  • 4 Tbsp Vegetable oil (or enough to lightly coat the wedges)
  • Garlic Salt (to your preference)
  • Seasoned Salt (to your preference)
  • Shredded cheese
  • Bacon (optional) cut up into small pieces

Step 1
Gather your materials, and cut your potato wedges. The potatoes are lined up in the picture in the order that you would cut them. The last two on the right are just two of the wedges lined up. 

Step 2
 Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees!

Step 3
Add your seasonings. First coat the potatoes with 4 Tbsp of vegetable oil, so that the seasonings can "stick" onto them. Then sprinkle your garlic salt, and seasoning salt.

Step 4
Line the pan with aluminum foil and spray it with a LOT of pam. If you think you have used enough, you probably haven't. Add more! If you want, spray the tops of the wedges with some pam also--it makes them crispier! Then line the pan with the wedges (like pictured) so they will cook evenly. Bake for 15 minutes.

Step 5
After 15 minutes has passed, take the potato wedges out and flip them. Using 2 forks works the best for me. Spray more pam, because it will have evaporated. Put them back in the oven for another 13 minutes.

Step 6
Add cheese and bacon (not pictured), and put them back in the oven until cheese is fully melted.

I don't have a picture of the final product, but trust me, it's delicious. Make these on game-day, and enjoy while watching your favorite team (cough...Sooners...cough) whoop some butt on the field!
